Problem / Solution Paragraph: Racism

Racism is everywhere and is part of human history, unfortunately. We all are inherently equal but some people don't understand this. Many men have wanted to search for equality in other races of the world, but they have failed in their attempt due to the words we issue towards a person, and these words are known as 'judgments'. But what if we removed these judgments that make us different? We would have the same qualities and, as a result, there would be no defects. No one can be considered superior in rights.
One solution would be to know ourselves and respect the neighbor, and we can achieve this by thinking in not wanting to be right: our beliefs are hypotheses, not truths. We have to be humble, learn and not reaffirm prejudices and preconceptions. However, perhaps this is not the first step because we have to learn all this when we are kids, never is too late, but some of the people who is reading this have already form a way of living. Considering all, the other solution would be to teach kids these values, because nobody born taught, nobody born hating, nobody born bad. We all belong to the human race which is our only race. So this would be the solution to fight against racism. If we contribute in this cause, we will live in a better world, I'm sure of it.

To conclude, we all are equal, we don't belong to a country but just a piece of land with a name. We are not better than anyone, we are not worst than anyone, we just are humans beings.

Advantages and Disadvantages of Living Alone / Loneliness

Man is a social creature and he cannot live alone, I mean isolated from the rest of the world, nevertheless, the truth is that all of us are lonely inside. A part of us remains alone. Living alone has a number of advantages. For example, one enjoys a lot of freedom, does not have to stick to a routine of getting home at a particular time and can invite friends without having anyone disturb him / her and his / her guests. You can do anything you like without being interrupted by others. Moreover, you learn to be an independent person. Loneliness can be a gift; the quiet moments can become in a spur to reflect and meditate on things and induce creativity. Some disadvantages are that you can lose the capacity of communicating with others, the ability of sharing things or senses with another persons and the confidence in people, basically. In a nutshell, you can live alone but at least don't isolate yourself to the world because life is wonderful and full of surprises that we all should live with our loved ones. We have to find a middle path, as in all aspects of life.

HALLOWEEN!

It's almost Halloween! I love Halloween because it's a day out of the year to show your imagination off and to be someone else for a day. Also, it's fun to get all the candy with your friends travelling from house to house with the phrase ''Trick or treat''! Added to this, Halloween is an opportunity to make new friends because costumes and the craziness always lead to conversation. And let's not forget all the awesome scary movies that come out on TV and the ghost stories that you can tell with your friends around campfires, or you also can going to haunted houses and of course, spend pranks and jokes. There are a lot of things to do in Halloween. It's a holiday that is actually super fun for kids and adults, at the same time! I would love to spend a Halloween in the United States because there, Halloween is lived as a big celebration and all is more exciting because people are more conscious of this, someway, and they get ready to October 31st with many days of advance, so this is one of my dreams. And well, HAPPY HALLOWEEN YOU ALL!

Comparison / Contrast Paragraph: Faith and Reason (Block Organisation)

Some people have the idea that faith and reason are in conflict. They seem very different each other, nevertheless, faith and reason complement together. Reasoning is an intellectual process with methods such as logic, deduction and perception. Reason is a logical approach to things. However, faith has the ability to turn hope into reality, faith is a function of the human spirit. Reason is more intellectual and faith more emotional or intuitive. Faith is something you have without having to reason it out, while reason requires investigation. But both, reason and belief, are functions of the human mind. Thus faith and reason are not exclude, but complementary. As St. Augustine of Hippo said, neither believing is an irrational knowledge, nor rational knowledge (of God) destroys faith. On the one hand, faith is the guide and pattern of reason, on the other hand, rational inquiry leads man towards faith, so the last one, removes any doubt consolidating a rational knowledge. Thereby, both are sources of knowledge, but reason has a limit beyond starting from faith, so, that faith provides knowledges that reason cannot reach, so it coming to perfect.

Freaks and Geeks

You will thank me after you watch this, if you haven’t seen it already, seriously. Nah, just kidding but I strongly recommend you this series. Freaks and Geeks is an american teen comedy-drama serie about a brother and sister and their high school lives, in the ‘80s. The sister, Lindsay Weir, has always been a goody-goody, Straight A student. A mathlete. Lindsay is super smart but she's been bored with that life so she starts talking with the ''Freaks'', they are like the hooligans of school. And then there is her little brother who is the most fantastic person, Sam Weir. He hangs out with the so-called ''Geeks''. He has a super tight group of friends and they’re pretty great. So we’re following these two, their friends and their adventures and it is probably my most favorite mini serie. EVER. It only has 18 chapters and it was removed of USA televisions due to the lack of viewers, it started with a big amount of  spectators but the serie changed in more than one occasion of channel, a mismanagement.
Anyway, I think it is an underrated series and it should be more valued. I leave you here some pictures and a clip with the song of Freaks and Geeks and with it, the main actors of the series, who some of them have a big popularity nowadays, James Franco, Jason Segel or Seth Rogen, among them.

Do Schools Kill Creativity?

I found very interesting the talk that Sir Ken Robinson gave about the educational system. A funny and profound reflection about creativity and how it is treated in our formal education system. The educational system marginalizes and undermines the innate creativity of children, promoting the fear of failure, producing less creative and unoriginal adults. He gave several examples among which are: the 6 year old boy who walked with hands, encouraged his natural aptitude of his son by enrolling in a gym. 'I could have cut that attitude do not leaving'. Now, that child is Bart Conner, the most decorated athlete in the history of men's gymnastics in the USA. Education plays a key role. For economies to flourish we need children to think creatively and understand the cultural values. We need teachers that not only be able to teach but also that they leave children spaces to grow their talent. It is necessary to enhance diversity in order to self-realize ourselves and the only way to find out talents is thinking in a different way.
In a nutshell, I totally agree with Ken Robinson and I reckon also that the human imagination is a gift and the importance of education, which should provide different types of intelligence. If you want to see the complete talk, I leave the link here: Sir Ken Robinson: Do schools kill creativity?

An Opinion Paragraph

Today, we have been differentiating an opinion of a fact. And we also have received some advices to write well an opinion paragraph, so here is my paragraph:
I reckon that reading books is better than watching films. Reading is a habit that is being lost, among the youth especially, and it is a shame. When reading, we force our brain to think, we start to imagine how the things are while reading, and it is astonishing how far we can come when imagining, because we have no limits. There are a lot of extraordinary films, but there is nothing like our own imagination and above all, these films adapted to the books, it is very funny when comparing the way that you had imagined it. Moreover, if we read a book, we will be like the director of the film, so you can imagine the characters, their features, their voices, the sceneries and so on, while watching films, we will already have all designed. In a nutshell, people should read more and, as André Maurois said, reading a good book is a constant dialogue where the book talks and soul answers.

Cinema and More

I would like to write a post about my favorite films and actors, about cinema basically, which is one of my main hobbies, so here it is! Well, first and foremost, I love scary films, action films and dramatic films. My favorite actors are Leonardo DiCaprio and Clint Eastwood, as actor and director the second one. What I love about Leonardo DiCaprio, well gosh there is so much to name! First of all would be his talent and the roles he plays. He can be a romantic character and then go into a really dark character, and you don’t see that too often. The first film I saw of him was The Basketball Diaries, my favorite film as well. I have seen almost all of his films, Titanic and Romeo + Juliet, of course, The Departed, What's Eating Gilbert Grape?, The Beach and so on. I had always desired a film where Leonardo and Clint were together, and my dream came true in 2011 with J. Edgar, an extraordinary film. I have to say the same about Clint Eastwood, he is a very talented person. I have only cried one time when watching films, and it was with Hereafter, it is such a touching film. I also love The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, The Bridges of Madison County, Mystic River, A Perfect World, Invictus, Million Dollar Baby, etc.
There are so many other things that I love about them, but one thing that is really great is that with how famous they are have not let fame get to his head, as well as they just seem like a down to earth persons who would be easy to get along with.

My Favorite Place

My favorite place in the world is wherever I'm with my family. It's true that my favorite thing in the world is travelling, explore new places, new countries, new cultures and in fact, I wouldn't be able to choose one, because each place has its charm. However, there's no place like being with the people who love you and no matter if you're in the best or in the worst place, because you will be with the most important persons to you. We will never walk alone. We all are in a constant race and we keep on running, sometimes we have to suffer, but being alone or accompanied we do things for us, for something or for someone, perhaps for love or to survive but there's always something behind our purposes in order to be in the place we want to. To sum up, there's no place like home and being with our loved ones.

This is one of my favorite songs, Farewell To The Fairground from White Lies, one of my favorite bands as well. It says, ''keep on running, there's no place like home''...

A Description of Someone

We've been analyzing the structure of a paragraph of different texts. The topic sentence, the supporting sentences and the concluding sentence, and in class we all have done a paragraph with these ideas about the description of someone we wanted to, so I chose Agatha Christie and here is my paragraph:
Agatha Christie was one of the strongest women in the world. I really admire her because since Agatha was a child, she had to pass a lot of life obstacles. She was a brave person because although her father died when she was 11 years old, (Agatha said that her childhood finished in that point of her life), was grown in a strict system and had to fight for the equality of women in that time, she considered her infancy as 'very happy'. In addition, she had to intern her unique daughter, Rosalind, in a boarding school due to the amnesia crisis that she suffered because of the divorce with her husband. In spite of all these things, she achieved to find a balance in her life, having an optimistic point of view and writing with love her books and plays. It's for that, that I admire her strength, courage and way of seeing the life.

It's My Birthday!

ALREADY I'M 18 YEARS OLD! Still can't believe it, time flies! Eighteen is an age that we all wait anxiously, but it also brings certain responsibilities and decisions that we must assume, just by ourselves, with the purpose of having a balance in life. So from today, I'm walking for the adulthood path, for better and for worse. Anyway, today is a special day! I spent my day with my family, I received some presents and I ate a big cake of chocolate, yummy! It's also my twin brother's birthday, so we have had double celebration haha! I hope to spend so many years more like this, alongside my family and friends! And well, I'M IN THE ADULT WORLD!
Me and my brother with eight months!

Bluebird, Charles Bukowski

There's a bluebird in my heart that
wants to get out
but I'm too tough for him,
I say, stay in there, I'm not going
to let anybody see
you.
There's a bluebird in my heart that
wants to get out
but I pour whiskey on him and inhale
cigarette smoke
and the whores and the bartenders
and the grocery clerks
never know that
he's
in there.
There's a bluebird in my heart that
wants to get out
but I'm too tough for him,
I say,
stay down, do you want to mess
me up?
You want to screw up the
works?
You want to blow my book sales in
Europe?
There's a bluebird in my heart that
wants to get out
but I'm too clever, I only let him out
at night sometimes
when everybody's asleep.
I say, I know that you're there,
so don't be
sad.
Then I put him back,
but he's singing a little
in there, I haven't quite let him
die
and we sleep together like
that
with our
secret pact
and it's nice enough to
make a man
weep, but I don't
weep, do
you?

A Little Bit About Me

I've been talking about my first days at the university, about fears, but I haven't introduced myself. So it's about time! Well, my name is Sara Ousalah Meseguer, I'm half Moroccan and half Spanish. I was born in Murcia and I'm 17 years old, but this Sunday (October 5th) is my birthday, YAY! I went to José Martínez Tornel school and I studied the Secondary and Bachillerato at IES Ingeniero de la Cierva, both in Patiño, (Murcia). So last year I was studying 2º Bachillerato, it was really hard and when I was very tired at the end of the course, I had to do a last effort in order to pass the PAU (where I got very good results) but it was worth because now I'm studying the degree that I've always loved. There's no victory without effort.

This is a picture of our graduation, I'm on the left of the picture, the two girls that are next to me are my friends with whom I spent all these years and the guy on the right is my brother, and friend.

Fear Of...

Fear of mirrors of life.
Fear of forgetting who I am.
Fear of changes.
Fear of time.
Fear of not being afraid,
Fear of not having any feeling.
Fear of two faced people.
Fear of turn down an advice,
Fear of decisions.
Fear of playing with fire and get burn.
Fear of pain,
Fear of diseases.
Fear of being disappointed,
Fear of giving up,
Fear of let myself down.
Fear of dancing.
Fear of laughing,
Fear of crying.
Fear of my shadow.
Fear of wasting my time,
Fear of not living enough,
Fear of living too long,
Fear of fear,
Fear of death...
